Mama Africa
the Womb
from whom all are born
The Rhythm of the World
is Her heartbeat
The drums of the nations
call out to her
in homage
Their beat thrumming out
feet and hands move irresistibly
Swaying bodies
eyes closed in trance
as the rhythm takes you
and sways and stamps and beats her song
into the very air that hums and pulsates
and thrills to the ancient call
of Her heartbeat
Mama Africa

Summer: Ailsa’s Photo Challenge

Summer

Summer in Africa is full of contrasts
Gardens are lush and green
The  veldt (bush) is too
But it is also harsh
The storms are dark and heavy and LOUD!

This was a 60ml storm in Jan 09

This one was a hail storm right in the middle of summer
Christmas Eve 2010

Our road and the normally dry fields

The Promise after the storm
