How terrifying! I hope the elephant is ok, and remains so!

  1. I hope not. Too often an innocent animal is put down, yes KILLED, for reacting naturally when an idiot teases it, by hooting, revving the engine, screaming and waving arms wildly, etc, or really stupidly gets out of their vehicle. The wild animal perceives it as either a threat or a predatory situation.

    • Not often thankfully. Usually it would either be a bull in musth or an injured/sick elephant or a mother/Matriarch with a little calf around that she felt was somehow threatened. Many times it will be a mock or threatening charge, with no follow-through. I hope this bull is ok and continues being so!It has happened a few times, but is still rare. We were chased by a bull elephant in musth once. In reverse! It was thrilling to say the least. Also, we had been really careful not to provoke him, but turning OFF our engine riled him! Thankfully it was a mock charge!

  2. I went to Kruger National Park as a toddler. I’ve always thought it would be wonderful to return. this is the only way I would see animals, out in the open in their natural habitat.
I hope the Elephant is okay. 😦
