Weekly Photo Challenge: New

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “New.”

New: Climate Change

Within just 4 months of 2014,
we experienced our first earthquake;
our first massive sandstorm,
which hit 4 provinces of South Africa on this day;
a fire that burned for 3 days, and over 6 farms;
and a flash flood, with hail and wind that wiped out a couple of our roads.

If you hover over the photo, it will briefly explain…

Is this the “new” world we have made for ourselves

  1. Yes, – it’s a changing world and we have set in process more enormous changes which we can’t reverse. But I also try to remember that we have also always battled the elements, and as an Aussie, I like to remember the Eric Bogle’s lyrics – …of drought and fire and flood I’ve seen a plenty, but it’s nearly over now, and now I’m easy…

    Not so optimistic for future generations though.

    I love your photography!

    • Hello Sandy, thank you so much, I love the quote! Although the experience of the 4 elements was unforgettable, it is the change; and in brand new experiences in a place where we’ve been for decades, that scared me the most. I have a new granddaughter, and want her to have a beautiful, peaceful world ….
